The Director of Grants and Programs is primarily responsible for Foundation activities in the areas of community initiatives, non-profit partner capacity, scholarships, and grant making. Responsible to: President & CEO General Job Purpose: The Director of Grants and Programs is primarily responsible for Foundation activities in the areas of community initiatives, nonprofit partner capacity, scholarships, and grantmaking. Essential Functions and Performance Areas Create and manage grantmaking process from start to finish, including managing the application process, convening committees, tracking and notifying recipients, overseeing distributions in conjunction with finance, and providing timely communication. Oversee multiple grant and distribution programs, including donor-advised grants, nonprofit partner distribution, designated funds, unrestricted funds, and field of interest funds. Maintain databases to ensure data integrity. This includes data entry for approved grant and distribution requests, recordkeeping, and disbursement of completed grant and distribution payments. Create and maintain a grantmaking budget each fiscal year. Act as liaison with nonprofit partners, including information, educational programming, and distributions. Participate on the leadership team to help develop and guide the annual and long-term strategic and action plan committees. Assist donor advisors with selecting a cause to support outside of a grant cycle. Collaborate with the communications department to send grant packets to donor advisors and any other fund holders as needed. Manage community initiatives including the Hunger Collaborative. Prepare and manage scholarship files including updating criteria and applications. Determine scholarship awards with finance. Serve as primary contact with school counselors, athletic directors, and pathway coordinators to promote scholarships and obtain information from recipients. Attend scholarship meetings with committees, donors, or schools when needed. Attend award night for scholarship presentations. Work closely with Communication Manager on related marketing and information dissemination. Supervise the Thrift Shop manager. Qualifications Demonstrated understanding of philanthropy and grantmaking related to nonprofit organizations. Ability to research a community need and create a grant program to address it. Experience bringing together a wide variety of groups and diverse constituencies to achieve common goals. Ability to build strong partnerships and work collaboratively with others. Demonstrated experience working with public outreach, managing teams, and committees. Good sense of self with demonstrated qualities of integrity, loyalty, discretion, and self-motivation. Enthusiastic and innovative mindset to be able to respond effectively to evolving project needs. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly. Strong organizational skills and excellent time management skills. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects/tasks. Willingness to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends as necessary. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with database work preferred. Bachelor’s degree.
